The ideal candidate will have strong Workers Comp experience, but property and casualty is imperative. Additionally, should be on the path to obtain actuarial credential if not already there
Job Tasks Include:
• Completes assigned tasks in standard products, state rate filings, legislative pricings, reserving, and research projects
• Oversee data systems management, carrier reporting, compliance and new program research/development
• Analyzes moderately complex information, develops concepts, and evaluates results. Verifies and documents factors used
• Develops and exercises actuarial judgment related to the technical, economic, and statistical processes
• Develops expertise with actuarial systems, including NCCI’s databases
• Develop knowledge and form specialization in at least one of the areas below:
- Lead the development of pricing tools and rates and the review of premium/rating methods to ensure that methods adopted by the business are robust/valid
- Contribute to the business planning process, including collection and analysis of information
and development of tools and reports, to ensure that best practice is followed
- Perform the forecasting of technical provisions, prudential margins, and reserve
uncertainties to support business analysis and provide MI for reports and accounts,
business planning, profitability studies, and commutations
- Perform the modeling and analysis of risk aggregation to manage these
exposures appropriately
• Manage and revise appropriate systems and procedures to ensure accurate data is used and
subsequently appropriate analyses produced
- Adopt efficient and consistent actuarial models and processes and/or technologies where
appropriate
- Ensure appropriate checks are performed within processes to minimize inaccuracies
• Ensure key processes and policies are adhered to and ensure:
- Comply with all material legal and regulatory requirements
- Adhere to relevant actuarial standards and good practice
- Meet all reporting requirements
• Build and maintain positive relationship with Underwriters, Finance, Claims, and Ceded Reinsurance to improve customer focus
• Interact with peers internally and externally to ensure good business relationships are developed and maintained
Required Education and/or Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related field
-Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in the property and casualty actuarial field
-Minimum of three actuarial exams
Job Related Knowledge and Skills:
-Good work ethic
-Knowledgeable in Excel, Word, Power Point
-Proficiency with SAS
-Access and SQL experience is highly desired
-Good communication skills
-Strong interpersonal skills
-Ability to persuade, influence, and negotiate
